While at work today, a supervisor was passing by my desk and I stopped him to ask his opinion of the skin tones in a photo. He said the skintones were fine, but he was disappointed with the aperture used by the photographer. When I asked him to explain, he pointed out that the obviously large diamond ring on her finger was slightly out of focus (her hand was down at her side) due to a narrow depth of field. We then got some of the ladies together and asked their opinion and they all agreed that if their expensive jewelry was going to be in the picture, it is better if it is tack sharp. Being a guy, I had never considered this but won’t forget this little (but valuable) lesson in the future.
